The World’s Most Versatile Turboprop

This is the aircraft that does more of what airlines need. The Q400 is the only commercial turboprop certified to operate at airfield elevations up to 14,000 feet (4,267 m) and airfield slopes of up to 4.6 percent, reaching high altitude airports. Q400 can operate on short or unpaved runways and at a high altitude cruise can connect city pairs at speeds that rival those of a jet. As versatile on the ground as in the air, Q400 aircraft offer front boarding, are jet-bridge compatible and feature a large aft cargo compartment.

Turboprop economics & jet performance

The perfect blend of power and efficiency helps the Q400 deliver jet performance at half the trip cost. Cruising at 360 knots (667 km/h) the Q400 is 40% faster than conventional turboprops, enabling it to arrive within minutes of a jet on a short-range flight. Large, variable-pitch all-composite propellers together with the gearbox are just part of what makes this innovative aircraft so efficient. Advanced PW150A engines add to the Q400’s performance by providing the power to climb to altitude in the same time as a jet and twice as fast as older turboprops.

Quiet and comfort for a modern flying experience

Bright, comfortable and very quiet thanks to an Active Noise and Vibration Suppression (ANVS), the Q400 is a modern answer to the needs of today’s passengers. Its seats and aisle are wider than many aircraft of its category. Larger bins provide more space for carry-on luggage and large windows maximize natural light during flight. Truly versatile, Q400 meets capacity needs that range from a 50-seat Cargo-Combi to a 90 Seat high-density configuration.

Built Tough for the Toughest Operations

Thanks to their gravel kit, wide gear stance and high power-to-weight ratio, Q400 aircraft shine on short runways, narrow runways and even gravel runways. Even at hot and high altitude airports and in cold-weather operations, the Q400 comes through again and again.

Silence is Golden

Aboard the Q400, passengers enjoy a “hushed” cabin environment due to the aircraft’s unique Active Noise & Vibration Suppression (ANVS) technology, which reduces noise and vibration within the cabin to levels that are below those of even some jets.

Twice the productivity

Flying up to 40% faster than competing turboprops, while carrying 14 more passengers and delivering faster turnaround times thanks to dual-boarding and jet-bridge capability, the Q400 allows operators to maintain schedule integrity while increasing their productivity. The data speaks for itself – the Q400 consistently outperforms the competition.
